It was the high point of Abraham and Sarah's life, but it was marred by the presence of Hagar and her son, who mocked while they were rejoicing. Their sexual sin had brought trouble into their lives that never goes away and shows up right at the moment when everything should be pure joy. The lesson for us is to remain pure before we are married not only in body, but in mind and heart as well. Then after we are married we should be on continual watch to keep our relationship pure and faithful, because once another is allowed into this closed garden there can nothing come of it but grief and trouble.
