Psalm 133's theme is unity. But not of a unity that the world seeks, a unity based upon rebellion against God. Rather, the unity that David refers is one that is both better and far more beautiful than the world's unity. That is because it's based on God's electing love. His loves is like precious oil that pours upon us, adorning us with a fragrant scent for both our God and those whom God has loved. But that blessedness only pours upon us because it first was poured upon our great high priest Jesus Christ. For like Aaron who represented the people of Israel, Christ represents the collective people of God as our spiritual head. Therefore, the blessing Christ received of being pleasing in God's sight, now flows downward to us.
