Jesus reveals Himself as the Prophet, as He foretells the betrayal that Judas would perform. He tells His disciples that He would be betrayed by one of His own disciples so that they would not later fall into the temptation of thinking that Jesus was not all-knowing This prediction is due to the fact that Christ is truly God and knows the hearts of men. Jesus could not be deceived or surprised by Judas or anyone. His betrayal and crucifixion would be a fulfillment of prophecy.
Though Jesus cannot be deceived, we can be deceived. Pastor Linehan exhorts us to examine ourselves to see whether we truly be in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5).
