God isn't limited by our mistakes. He graciously restores His repentant children... and then uses even our messiest experiences to make us useful for His kingdom. Did you catch that last part? ". . . When you have returned to Me, strengthen your bretheren," (Luke 22:32, NKJV). Jesus' words to Peter often came to my mind this month as we studied the parable of the prodigal son. Peter, like us, probably saw himself in the parable. He knew what it was to go his own way and fail. And he knew what it was to think himself better than others, even his fellow disciples. Jesus allowed Peter to experience both extremes, then tenderly restored him. Christ redeemed Peter's failures to make him a useful disciple. How gracious is our Lord! Wherever you saw yourself in the parable of the lost son, I pray you're encouraged in this message as we consider "Help for Prodigals and Their Brothers."
