In Psalm 2, God made it clear that His Son was enthroned on Zion. Psalm 110:1 (the most quoted psalm text in the NT) has Jesus seated at the Father's right hand as His enemies are subjected to Him. Paul describes this in 1 Cor. 15:25, 26. Jesus is presently reigning; however, this rule was given Him as the reward of His suffering. John 18 and 19 record the plot against the king. Jesus was betrayed by Judas to the wicked and hateful Jews, who turned Him over to the politically expedient Roman Procurator, Pilate to be crucified. The principle seen here is that the light of liberty comes only after the darkness. For Christ, it came three days after He entered the tomb. But now He rules at the Father's right hand.
