One of the implications of trusting in Jesus is a desire to live according to the will of God. "Faith working through love" leads believers to do "the works that God has commanded in his word" (art. 24). Jesus says, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments" (John 14:15). But that raises a question: which commandments should we keep? Are the Old Testament laws concerning Jewish worship, sacrifices, and civil life binding on Christians today? Or if Jesus came to fulfil the law (Matt. 5:17) may we ignore Old Testament rules? Four principles can help us understand how Jesus fulfilled the law without abolishing it.
