Samuel the prophet is a great example to us on prayer, holy living, pastoral care and godly, fearless leadership.
When looking at the life of Samuel, we have to look not only at his adult life but also at his childhood.
Young Samuel certainly had to "grow up" quite quickly - and in his childhood we can see the 'making' of a prophet.
Is it not interesting to notice the detail which is given concerning his childhood, in comparison to what we read about other prophets ?
Samuel definitely had a very close relationship with his God even from a child, and we could say even before he was born, through the prayers of his mother.
Do not underestimate the power of God at work even in a child ! Take the example of the Saviour, who encouraged the little ones to come to Him !
Rev Ken Elliott looks at Samuel`s childhood under the following three main headings:
1. The Facts That Surrounded His Childhood
2. The Feature That Highlighted His Childhood
3. The Faithfulness That Distinguished His Childhood
