In Paul's letter to the Galatians, he contrasts the 'fruit of the Spirit' with the 'works of the flesh'. While works are products of human nature, fruit represents virtues cultivated through God's Spirit, emerging as the Spirit works within us over time.
Building on our previous Bible study, we find two further ways to walk in the Spirit. Firstly, we should act as spiritual people, embodying forgiveness, mercy, and gratitude - qualities we see perfectly modelled in our Saviour. Secondly, we must walk prayerfully, maintaining habitual communion with our Creator.
This chapter presents three key steps to develop the Spirit's fruit: staying watchful, desiring holiness, and taking decisive action to crucify the flesh.
The first of these beautiful graces is 'love'. Love is the mother grace, and the Lord Jesus Christ perfectly expresses this.
