The Lord is like the rich soil that feeds and sustains us. We trust the Lord through our ups and downs for the believers trust amidst adversity. In today's passage David was in distress and fled to the wilderness. We see 3 truths manifested in the scripture: 1) the Lord answers v. 1-4, 2) the Lord upholds v. 5-6 & 3) the Lord saves v. 7-8 1) David says enemies are following him and he laments to God. The people are calling out David's many sins of the past. David tastes the betrayal of the people as he is made an outcast. We see with Christ the betrayal of the people and as he is made an outcast. But God is merciful and answers our prayers. Our spiritual and physical deliverance are all of God. To abound in suffering is to be like Christ. David mentions a shield about him. This is like a surrounding shield where he is totally protected. God answers David's prayer for God's purpose is to be holy, righteous, and good. 2) The Lofd upholds. David woke after a good night's sleep and the Lord had sustained him and given him peace. David realizes that he does not fear his enemies for God will destroy the enemies. 3) the Lord saves. The Lord saves David from his enemies for Satan can only do to God's people what God allows. God brings us salvation. Salvation belongs to the the Lord, because a sinner cannot save himself. Our deliverance is at the foot of the cross.
