The primary focus of our passage (and the Epistle to the Hebrews) is a call to endurance. The structure of it focuses on this command: to let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. The rest of what this passage says is how you do that. You do it by considering the witnesses that surround us. The second way to do that is to lay aside everything that hinders you. And the third is to look to Jesus, it's looking to him as the founder and the perfecter of our faith. But the main focus is on running with endurance.
