This is the last of four messages that give us a "glimpse of God". What stands out when we read Matthew 16:24-17:8 is that Peter, James and John were uniquely given the majestic view of Jesus (God) as He was transfigured before their very eyes. Jesus had a physical body, but these three disciples were allowed to really see His amazing power and glory. In glimpsing the Son of Man in His unveiled majesty, Peter had an earthly focus, seeking to make the encounter permanent and to treat Moses and Elijah as equals with Jesus. God the Father intervened with the point of this revelation when He declared audibly, "Listen to Him!" True believers today can become completely distracted and side-tracked by the flesh - experiences, miracles, knowledge, emotions, etc., and waste a great amount time on what is fading away. This final message focuses on the need on recognizing Jesus as God, and in turn, surrendering to Him as disciples who faithfully obey.
