The subject of the kingdom of God is a difficult and controversial matter. However, since so many of the Parables spoken by Jesus were in direct reference to the kingdom of God, we should at least have something of an idea of what the Scriptures reveal about this subject. In fact, to the extent that we do not understand this great theme, or misunderstand it, to that same extent the message of the parables will remain a mystery to us. In addition, with so many conflicting views on the subject, we should at least be somewhat familiar with the thinking of the best of the biblical scholars. The views outlined below represent the more traditional approaches toward developing a biblical understanding of the kingdom concept. There are six commonly accepted aspects concerning the Kingdom of God, although not everyone (including myself) would necessarily agree with every detail of each.
