(1) Because idolatry leads to destruction - the philosophical and religious systems of the world are broken cisterns that contain no water and lead ultimately to destruction (2) Because these things do not satisfy - great achievements in the areas of finances, power, education do not ultimately satisfy the human heart (3) Because we were made for God - 'man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever', and so we will find no rest until we rest in Him (4) Because God has made this knowledge possible - the great blessing of the new covenant Jesus established at His coming is this privilege of knowing God
