After defining what a spiritual person is, the apostle Paul tells the Corinthians that they are acting like mere men. They don't recognize solid food properly and keep seeking the "wisdom of this world" which results in them simply being fleshly. Jealously and strife are rampant in the church because they continue to elevate certain men, create factions, and see others as part of rivalries. Holding himself and Apollos up as examples, Paul tells the Corinthians even they did not come to them that way but were acting as servants of God. More than that, he sees his and Apollos' role as mere farmhands on God's field. That's what Christian are and he shows them that they need each other. Without the waterboy, the seeds wouldn't grow and without the plowboy, there would be no seeds to water. But who has really been missing from the Corinthians' situation is God. They need God. God causes the growth that they need to mature from these sins. If only we would see we are not anything and God is everything; and with that right outlook only then with division die and unity grow. We are all one field, one building…individuals brought together under Christ to be one under God.
