As we saw last Lord's Day, the Apostle Paul makes an ironclad argument for the biblical doctrine of what came to be known as the doctrine of Total Depravity. That is, when Adam fell, his disobedience brought destruction to the human race in all of our faculties and abilities. The life with which we were endowed was replaced with death. We also saw that the Savior's actions on behalf of His people answered Adam's rebellion. In part two, we will see in even greater divine revelation that the grace of God demonstrated in the true incarnation, patient sin-bearing, vicarious suffering, and glorious resurrection are not merely a like-for-like response to the destruction of the Fall, but is a superabundant overflow of divine grace which does much more than negate the bad; it supersedes it and, in the ultimate sense, it eradicates it. The apostle uses the term reign to describe the power of sin and grace. The message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, is that the oppressive reign of death is over and grace, in the person of Jesus Christ, now reigns – Pastor Schlegel
