Text: Mark 12:41-44 | Speaker: Levi Bakerink | Description: Jesus concludes his day-long speech against the temple and religious establishment with a final lesson about giving. He watches with the crowd as people deposit money into the offering boxes for the temple treasury. After many wealthy patrons deposit much, a poor widow puts in only two small coins together worth only a penny. Jesus uses this to illustrate again the upside-down value of the Kingdom of God: This woman gave far more in the eyes of God than anyone else, because she gave all she had and trusted simply in the Lord. Like her, we are called to give, not just our money, but our whole selves to God, our Creator and our Redeemer.
