This would be the One who would be so great that John would not be worthy even to loosen His sandal. As our passage opens, John sees Jesus coming. From where is He coming?I want to suggest that He had been in the wilderness. It had been 40 days since John had baptized Jesus. Since that time, Jesus had been in the wilderness, being tempted by the devil. Jesus was the fulfillment of all of the sacrifices of the Old Testament. He was the true Lamb of God. His death was able to put an end to sin in a way.
