Isaiah was called in a day of great declension in Israel and Judah. Idolatry, with all its attendant wickedness was rampant. The prophets, priests and people were all involved in the idolatry of the time. Isaiah had a vision of God's holiness before he was sent to warn the nation of the consequences of their idolatry and the coming judgement. Isaiah prophesied of the birth, death and second coming of Christ, as well as many other things. But his burden was to warn them of the imminent judgement. They did not listen. The people of this nation are not listening and, like Israel of old, there will be terrible consequences.
