The gospel announces the Kingdom of God which is 1st established legally in the person & work of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor 5:21 is an explanation of how God legally justifies undeserving sinners: by imputing the righteousness of Christ to their legal account. Paul is not describing a change in our persons, but the change in our legal position in the courtroom of God. By legal imputation, God credits to the believer's account the merit & legal righteousness of Jesus & judges the sinner to be righteous in Jesus. All who believe in Jesus are given the legal status of the resurrected Lord Himself! Now, that's good news!
