When we watch Olympic runners, we like to replay the race, especially the finish-line. We run the video in slow motion so as to see every muscle strain, every movement converge to get the athlete across the finsh-line. In v9 & 10 Moses slows the action down to slow-motion & we see Abraham cross the finish-line & get to the point where he finally passes the test designed by God. With great detail, Moses shows us Abraham's obedience as each act of preparing & then enagaging to sacrifice Isaac is saturated with the pathos of faith that is working through love (Gal 5:6)to obey God. As we watch Abraham's faith lived out in his obedience, we are challenged to likewise run the race that is set before us & complete the course in which God has providentially placed us.
