Even after David was anointed king by Samuel, many years and many trials and tribulations went by before he was able to take the throne. And yet he still did the job there was to do, every day. God's will, and path for his life was revealed to him, not by a laid-out, long-term plan; but by daily obedience, doing the work, doing the hard things, and seizing the opportunities provided to honor and obey God, rather than to pursue his own interests, or what we or many others would consider to be the obvious will of God for his life. God's will, and God's plan was fulfilled by David's willingness to do, each day, what God allowed to come to him. |
