Philadelphia was a literal Church in John’s day and Jesus sent them a literal letter written by the hand of John. 2. Philadelphia also has a Prophetic Application: Remember the letters describe 7 stages of Church history. Scholars belive that the Philadelphian Church prophetically describes Christendom from the 1700’s.
