The phrase 'angel of the Lord' appears 64 times in your King James Bible, but there is indeed a difference between 'an angel' and 'the angel' of the Lord as we will soon find out. The angel of the Lord appeared to Moses, Abraham, Jacob, Gideon, and Manoah just to name a few. The angel of the Lord is not the same as the angel Gabriel or the archangel Michael. Angels are 'ministering spirits', the Bible tells us, but angels are not the Angel of the Lord, that's Jesus Christ.
"And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face." Judges 6:22 (KJB)
On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are looking at the numerous instances when Jesus Christ, as the angel of the LORD, shows up in the Old Testament. You cannot see God, no one ever has, but you can see His Body which is Jesus Christ. This is why when you study this, you see people exclaiming that they have 'seen God and lived' when in fact what they have seen is His Angel Jesus Christ. Satan appears as an 'angel of light' in his myriad attempts to mimic Jesus Christ, and one thing a Christian never wants to be is an imitator of Jesus Christ, even though you are commanded to do so in the corrupt ESV in 6 different places. No, thank you. Join us tonight as we go searching for the 'real deal' pre-incarnate Jesus Christ in the Old Testament, and find Him with absolutely no difficulty at all. |
