Matthew skips almost a year when he introduces the beginning of the ministry of Jesus – turning the water to wine at Cana, Passover at Jerusalem, driving the money changers from the Temple, meeting with Nicodemus, teaching around Judea, meeting the woman at the well…then He returned to Galilee and the pace of His ministry noticeably increases. In our text today we see the dawning of the Light of the Kingdom in a dark and deadly place - Galilee of the Gentiles. The Light dawns because the King is here!
