People in authority should always follow Christ in responding first in meekness and gentleness. Paul tells the Corinthians he walks in the same world they do, therefore he faces the same kind of temptation. To conquer these temptations, we do not use natural weapons. Paul then talks in particular about how to use ministerial authority, but there are principles here that can apply to any Christian's warfare.
