As a high schooler, I aced all the written tests in my art class. But when report cards came out, much to my dismay, I still got a C. Why? Turns out, knowing about art does not make one an artist! I didn’t do well at all when it came to actually painting, sculpting, or, frankly, anything else artsy. God’s Word warns us that knowing about Jesus is not the same thing as actually knowing Him relationally. Bible knowledge aside, a Christ-less life is not a Christian life. “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.” 1 John 2:3 (NKJV) Obedience is the language of our love toward God. A heart that longs to live as Jesus lived – in obedience to the Father – is a redeemed heart, a heart that truly knows Him. This Sunday, we’ll continue our study in 1 John with, “Real Christianity: Loving God from the heart.”
