Erm! The reason why apocalyptic language is used in Matt 24 and not in 1 Thess is because, whilst the same event, Jesus and Paul are addressing different issues. The disciples asked what are the "signs" of his coming, whereas Paul is merely comforting regarding the dead in Christ. There is no need for Paul to elucidate about the tribulation. Further, the Parousia of Christ appears in both passages. It is the same event.
Another weak argument for the pre-trib position based on conjecture. The post-trib position has lots of direct scriptural support. Matt 24 etc. Paul himself explicitly ties the 2nd Coming and the rapture together after antichrist is revealed (2 Thess 2:1-4). The resurrection occurs on the last day (John 6), at the last trump (1 Cor 15) after the tribulation (Rev 20:6). Note the word thief in 1 Thess 5. Paul tells the church to watch for the Day of the Lord which comes as a thief. In Rev 16:15 we find Jesus still has not come as a thief right at the end of the tribulation. All this ties together to make evidence for a post-trib rapture overwhelming. Unless you want to believe there are 2 last days, 2 last trumps, 2 raptures,Jesus comes as a thief twice. If pre-trib were true, Jesus would have said so, simple as that.
