His Astonishment (verse 7) - Cannot grasp why they have so quickly departed from spiritual truth. - The word for depart means "removed voluntarily". They made the choice. His Accusation - a false Gospel (verse 7) - There is only one Good News, the Gospel - There is nothing like the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. - Any message that doesn't preach salvation by faith alone apart from works is not good news, it is not the Gospel. - When you add works to faith it becomes bad news, not good news. His Anathema (verses 8 & 9) - Let me be accursed. - Anathema = to be devoted to destruction - Anyone preaching a salvation PLUS is damned to destruction. - No matter how seemingly Godly or good someone is, a spiritual leader must be evaluated by his preaching, not his person. His Authority (verse 10) - I can say these things because I am a servant of Christ. - If I were trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. - Paul's passion was to preach Christ!
