The Blood line of the Antichrist_PT1 Genesis 49:16-17; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-10 How can the Antichrist descend from the Greeks and Romans and be from the tribe of Dan at the same time? Jacob's prophecy concerning the Danites is they would judge their people as one of the tribes of Israel and have serpent-like characteristics. The word Dan means "judgment." The prophecy of judging was partially fulfilled in the time of Samson, who judged Israel in the times of Judges. Samson was cunning and struck quickly like a serpent against the Philistines. Dan's serpent-like qualities have been compared to Satan, the serpent of Eden and an actual serpent of Palestine known as the horned viper. This snake hides in the way or footprints of animals or men in the desert. It lies half buried in the sand awaiting the arrival of its prey. It is a highly irritable snake with a dreaded venomous bite. Satan's influence was very powerful in the tribe of Dan. The Danites moved northward and conquered the town of Laish and renamed it Dan. A Levite from the tribe of Ephraim joined them and brought idols from the house of Micah. This Levite became their high priest and lead them away from the Lord into idolatry Judges 18. Jeroboam set up two golden calves in Bethel and in Dan. The Danites were prone to rebellion against God and easily irritated or swayed against the Lord as the horned viper was easily provoked. This shadow seems to have plagued the tribe of Dan throughout its history. When listed in genealogies they were either listed last or not at all 1 Chronicles 2-10, 27; Revelation 7. There is a war going on for control of our lives. Both the Spirit of God and the flesh seek control of our life.
