Daniel, recognized the time was approaching when the remnant will return to Jerusalem, faced toward Jerusalem and prayed. Even though Daniel is recorded as being wise and righteous, he did not separate himself from the sins of his people. After appealing to the character of God, he acknowledged how they had sinned in every way even though God had spoken through His prophets and His laws to all of the people. The authorities had ignored God's commandments. Righteousness belongs to God, but to the Jews belonged shame of face. When we look at our country, we should recognize that to us also belongs shame of face. The sin in our society is not separate from us. We should have shame of face as we have murdered 50 million children, embraced sodomy as righteous, denied that God made man male and female, etc.
