Jude 1:24-25
Last Sunday we completed our eighth lesson in our study of the first thirty-four verses of the gospel of John. The apostle John, without any hesitation, introduced Jesus Christ to us as the divine Word, the second person of the trinity of God, the Creator of all things
Then, apostle John introduced the one man appointed by God to proclaim to Israel that their Messiah was about to appear, therefore repent, and be baptized. That was the bold cry, the loud message of John the Baptist to the nation, to be ready for His coming. There can be no doubt about John the Baptist's testimony; that Jesus Christ was, indeed, the Son of God, God coming to us in the form of a man. While John was with his disciples at the Jordan River, Jesus approached them and John looked up saying, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"
John's testimony was true, straight from his heart, because John baptized Jesus as He requested, then witnessed the turtle dove land on Jesus when he baptized Him, saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove, and he remained on Him." While at the same time, John heard the voice of God from heaven saying, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." |
