In the midst of much confusion and contention in Mark 3:20-35, Jesus makes some remarkably bold and definitive statements. His family think he is out of his mind. The religious leaders claim he is possessed by a demon. But Jesus responds with startling clarity to those who are willing to hear him. Through a parable he declares himself to be stronger than the strong man – able to bind Satan and plunder his house. He also teaches that "all sins will be forgiven the children of man." We will also look at what it means to commit the unforgivable sin - "to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit." Suffice to say for now, if we believe it is by the power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus is able to do all he does, and do not reject Christ, we need not live in fear regarding this. Instead, we can rest assured in the great hope and strength of this One who is stronger than the strong man and able to forgive all our sins.
