Having sworn through Jacob a thousand years earlier that the scepter would never depart from Judah, in II Samuel 7 God made His covenant with King David the son of Jesse of the tribe of Judah. He promised to establish his throne and his kingdom forever, and that a son of David would always be seated upon that throne. He promised that David's son would build a temple for his God. And all of this was built upon the faithfulness of God Himself, not upon the faithfulness of David or his sons. In this message we consider the terms of the Davidic covenant and its fulfillment in history. Because God is faithful to the covenant He made with David, Jesus Christ the Son of David is sitting at God's right hand as the King over all kings and the Lord over all lords. His throne is everlasting, and His kingdom will know no end.
