In this sermon we will continue our study of 1st Peter by looking at 3:18–22. This passage is considered by many to be one of the most difficult passages in the New Testament to interpret. Despite the interpretational difficulties that aspects of this passage present, Peter's message of encouragement and hope in Christ’s victory permeates the passage.
As we study these verses we'll consider three points:
1. Christ's victory through suffering (v. 18). 2. Christ's victory proclaimed (vv. 19–20a). 3. Your victory with Christ assured (vv. 20b-22).
I encourage you to read 1 Peter 3:13–4:6 before listening to this sermon.
