Having considered the believer's entrance into union with Christ, and then the nature of the union itself – all of which is known only by revelation in the word of God – we have examined the believer's responsibility. Since we have already been united to Christ if we are genuine Christians, we are told by Jesus Himself that we must “abide in Him.” He gave this to His original disciples in the form of an allegory of the vine and the branches, John 15:4. Having spent many sessions on the theme of the believer’s union with Christ, we are now focusing our attention upon the believer’s communion with Christ. Tonight we continue with the discussion of enjoying communion with Christ, God’s great purpose for the Christian is for him to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
