The life of faith is not without its dangers, toils and snares. In these chapters we read of David, being mercilessly pursued by a powerful and enraged Saul who considered anyone who helped him an enemy. He had gathered around him a small private army of dissidents who were considered by many to be traitors. Together with David they became fugitives in their own country.
Rather than being enemies of God's kingdom they in fact were used by God to continue to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines. Vastly outnumbered, misunderstood, sorely tempted, and under great threat David again and again proved the delivering power of God's grace. This is a strong word of encouragement to Messiah's embattled saints.
