There are multiple examples throughout the Scriptures bares witness that church unity must also include substitution. When Abraham took Isaac up the mountain without a sacrifice, God Himself provided the ram caught in the thicket that Abraham and Isaac would use as a substitute. So too, Jesus, the Lamb of God, was and is the substitute of His elect people. As our representative, Christ Jesus willingly came to this earth prepared to be our substitute. For our second-hour service, Pastor Simpson preached on the substitutionary work of the Lord Jesus for an adopted people; saying that adoption is special because the parents had to "choose" to adopt you specifically. There's not many things more blessed thane hen one comes to understand that he has been elected by God; chosen to be one of His elect children, and saved from the wrath of God because our substitute paid it all and in full. He called, He justified, and He sanctified -- Praise and glorify the Lord of heaven and of earth - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
