Revelatoin Lesson #078 Reasons Why the Woman in Revelation Chapter 12 is Not the Church 1. Origin of the Church vs. the Child The church was born out of the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Acts chapter 2), not birthed by Mary or any other figure. The church didn't give birth to Christ; He established and empowered the church. Romans 9:4-5 emphasizes that Christ came from Israel. Christ did not come from the church; instead, the church was established through His redemptive work. Christ precedes and creates the church, not the other way around. 2. Suffering and Rule The woman's child in Revelation 12:5 is said to rule all nations with a rod of iron. Revelation repeatedly describes Christ ruling in this manner, but the church is not described as wielding this kind of direct, authoritative power over nations in scripture. 3. The Bible teaches that all who believe in the death and resurrection of Christ are raptured, not based on a hierarchy of worthiness or spiritual achievement. 4. Fleeing into the Wilderness The woman is described as fleeing into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God (Revelation 12:6). However, the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) instructs the church to go into all the world, spreading the Gospel universally, not hiding in a secluded specific, divinely-prepared ref
