The concept of reformation is not one that was invented by Martin Luther on October 31, 1517. Reformation is a pursuit that God has always called His people to strive. It is a return to faithfulness. Yet, the call of Reformation doesn't always mean that good times will follow. Judah still faced God's judgment despite Josiah's repentance. The beauty is Josiah's resolve to return to obedience and commitment to honor God despite knowing the end was still coming. This is truly a model for Christians today, to remain faithful even though we know times are growing darker and knowing the end may come for us too. However, just like King Josiah, our hope is future focused as we await the coming of the King of Kings who will bring us not just reformation, but ultimate restoration.
