Peter and John continuing in the work which the Lord commanded them to do went to the temple to pray. Having been given the gift of healing they healed a lame man, a sign to the Jews, who was above 40 years old. He was lame from his mother's womb. Peter and John took the occassion to preach the gospel to the witnessing crowd. As a result about five thousand men were saved. Peter and John were then arrested and thrown in jail.
