The Preacher has finished speaking, and we visualize the narrator taking over again. He distils the Preacher's philosophy into a simple principle: fear God, and obey him. Fear for the believer is not the terror which the rebel should experience. We are in a relationship with God now, and it is based on love, but he has not changed. He is still all-glorious, which is why we pursue a "loving fear". The commandments are not the "Ten Commandments", less still the Mosaic Law. Instead, we live according to the Law of Christ, always remembering that the commitment to righteous behaviour and thought is a by-product of the Spirit; our acceptance with God is through the righteousness of Christ himself committed to us.
