Upon reflection, I realize that I said two things in Sunday's sermon that I wish I had said differently.
The first thing that I said was that the lion did not tear the man of God from Judah. What I wish that I had said was that the lion only killed him and did not eat him. According to the testimony of the lying old prophet who tricked him, the man of God from Judah was torn: "It is the man of God who defied the word of the LORD. The LORD has given him over to the lion, which has torn him and killed him, as the word of the LORD had warned him" (1 Kings 13:26).
The second thing had to do with disobeying God, and I was a bit confusing in how I put it. What I meant to say was that there are things that are NEVER okay, e.g. breaking the Ten Commandments.
And there are things that are normally okay, such as eating bread and drinking water, but they may not be okay under certain circumstances, say for example, that God has called us completely to fast.
THE GIST of the SERMON: When we have clearly understood the Word of God, we do not need further clarification; we need to trust and obey. We don't need to see if God has a "Plan B," when he has given us his "Plan A."
The old prophet lied to the man of God from Judah, and it cost him his life. Never trust preachers; always check things out by Scripture.
There is coming a day when most people on our planet will be terribly deceived, and this will be because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
