This morning we are going to be spending some time with the Apostle of love. He was a man filled with passion for God and others. He walked with the greatest example this world has ever known—the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle John was privileged to write 5 books of the New Testament—the gospel of John, 1,2,3 John, and the Revelation. We are going to focus on 3 John today. In this letter, the Apostle John commends those who are walking in the truth. He has a commendation for two men in his letter and a concern about another man in the letter. When you consider what would bring you the greatest joy as a parent, what would you say? What would a pastor's greatest joy be? In this letter, the Apostle John writes to a man named Gaius and says, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." This was not a natural son of the Apostle John. This was someone who was perhaps converted under John's ministry and was walking in the truth. There are so many beautiful pictures of the joy of Christ-centered and truth-filled loving relationships. It breathes health and is so refreshing! Let's dive in!
