In this brief passage, we see that the king of the Southern Kingdom of Judah has just done something that he was not used to doing, he went down to visit a king who was in charge of a kingdom that had long before split off from his own. While there, he was suddenly confronted with a request to help out wicked king Ahab. This does not exactly seem like something he was prepared for since right after his response he asks for a prophet of God to be called in for advice. It is so much easier to get caught off guard when we are doing something we are not used to doing. Fortunately for Jehoshaphat, Ahab was the one who really wasn't used to what took place that day. As such this chapter is filled with examples that every Christian should take to heartless we repeat his mistakes.
