This passage begins with the story of a man who was blind. If Jesus wants to do something in our lives, we should let Him do whatever He wants, even spitting in our eyes. Sometimes when the Lord works miraculously in our lives things don’t turn out exactly the way we had hoped. God likes journeys, process, and patience. God is patient. The fact that we can look at Jesus and see who He is; that is a gift from God. Only God can take away the heart of stone and turns it into a heart of flesh. Jesus would not be installed as King until He was the Suffering Servant and die on the cross. Jesus speaks only what the Father tells Him to speak. Jesus was looking ahead and talked about the Church and the cross. Daily life for a Christian is the denial of self and picking up our cross. Jesus said whoever wants to save their lives will lose them, but whoever gives up their life for Jesus will find them. We will destroy something beautiful if we don’t let go of the things holding us back. We must surrender our lives to Jesus.
