Our Lord has defined the family as the basic building block of society. Believers show obedience by careful living. Any way of living should be run through the grid of Scripture so as to see if it is a way of wisdom or foolishness. We are not to rely on anything but Scripture to determine the will of the Lord. Submission is a positive force if viewed properly through the lens of Scripture. Children learn to obey God by first obeying their parents. They learn this is a spiritual matter. Refusal to submit to parents is rebellion against God. Do not allow anything to intrude into your obedience to parents and God.
Children are to learn to practice righteousness because it is the right thing to do. They should avoid the other voices that tell them not to listen to God's words. Remember that obedience is always right and disobedience is always wrong.
Children learn obedience by seeing how their parents prioritize God in their life. Proverbs 1:10,15 advises against consenting to sin with friends and to keep from walking with them. Avoid them at all costs because it is wrong, foolish and destructive. God's Word, not religion, gives wisdom to make the right choices.
