From the pen of Brother Dennis Sampson, Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.â€
In these three verses with see a great deal of work that has happened, the work that doesn’t happen, and should be happening. There in verse 8 we see the work that God did when He saved us. His grace went out and sought us. He supplied us the faith that was necessary in order for us to accept that we needed Jesus to save us and then the faith to be saved.
Verse #9 tells us that the whole thing of salvation has nothing to do with us working to get saved. No work we could ever do would be enough to get us into Heaven. When it comes to works we are a lost cause.
But then v#10 comes along. And suddenly we are supposed to be working. Not for salvation (to be saved) but to show our salvation. To show the world what it is that God has worked into our lives. Doing the works of God to demonstrate our salvation.
The question is, for those who have been truly saved how hard are we working to show we are saved verses how hard are we working to not reveal ourselves as true believers?
