CHRISTMAS - WHO,HOW, WHY ?
What does Christmas mean to you ? Does it mean trade ? Over-indulgence and excess in food or alcohol ? Partying ? Rest ? Receiving ? Giving ? Or is it the Lord Jesus Christ Who is the centre of your Christmas ? Rev Elliott looks at how the Saviour is the focus of Christmas, and indeed how He should be the focus of our daily lives. Rev Elliott takes as a basis for his message the latter part of John 10:10 '....I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.' He then asks the following questions: 1. Who Is It That Has Come ? 2. How Has He Come ? 3. Why Is It That He Has Come ? It is important that we know WHO has come. It wasn`t just a good man, or a prophet. It was God the Son, manifest in human flesh. It is important we know HOW the Saviour came. He was born miraculously of a virgin. He was born unlike anyone else was ever born. We were born in sin. The Saviour was born completely sinless. And it is important we know WHY He came. That is the central part of the Christmas message. The Lord`s Birth was the opening stage of a mission from which He would never turn aside, as He set His Face to go to Jerusalem, and the Cross, in order to save those who will turn to Him for salvation. The best Christmas gift you could ever receive is the gift of eternal life, offered freely to you, if you will repent and turn to the Saviour. Have a real, meaningful, blessed Christmas this year!
