I'm Healed!

A Thought From the Word

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks, and he was a Samaritan.” Luke 17:15,16

This was the occasion where Jesus healed ten lepers. The physical disease of leprosy was a symbol God used to teach about the extent of sin's consequences. Leprosy cut people off from society and brought destruction to the body. Sin seperates from God and brings deadly destruction to the soul.

Scripture purposely records the response of this one leper to his healing. He glorified God with a loud voice and prostrated himself at Jesus' feet, profusely giving thanks to the Healer. Has Jesus healed you from the leprosy of sin? If so, what is your response? Do you live like you have been healed?

Living like we're healed means we have a spirit of joy and deep thanksgiving to Christ. Though we still struggle with sin, we should do so with the mindset of “I've been healed. I have victory thru Jesus. The leprosy of sin will not conquer me.” Don't be indifferent to your healing. Seek to glorify the Healer in all of life.

Another part of this resposne to healing is—don't go back to live in the leper colony! Pray for and testify God's grace to those who haven't been healed, but don't go back and live as if you are still a leper. May we see sin in it's ugliness and God's grace in all its beauty.
