Why did Peter have to go to Samaria and why was the laying of hands used to receive the Holy Spirit?
When reading the Bible, one of the most important thing we can do is be concerned with context. With the book of Acts it is even more true. The book of Acts is written about Christ's establishment and beginning of His Church. His Church which He commanded to go out throughout the whole world making disciples of every tribe, tongue, and nation. So when we read about Peter having to go to Samaria and lay on hands in order to receive the Holy Spirit context matters.
